In 2007, Google’s Global Lead for Diversity, Strategy and Research, Kamau Bobb, wrote that Jews have an “insatiable appetite for war” and an “insensitivity to the suffering [of] others.” The blog post was first discovered by The Washington Free Beacon.
The report received quick backlash from the Jewish community and advocacy organizations, which has now led to Google’s most recent announcement to the Jewish Journal that Bobb “will no longer be part of our diversity team going forward and will focus on his STEM work.”
Google, recognizing a recent uptick in antisemitism, ‘unequivocally condemned’ the past statements and recognized that they are “causing deep offense and pain to members of our Jewish community and our LGBTQ+ community.” Moreover, the big tech company says Bobb has since apologized.
Google didn’t respond to this reporter’s request for comment.
