Report: Rabbi attacked in Vienna by knife-wielding woman

A rabbi was attacked on Thursday in Vienna, Austria by a woman carrying a knife, according to tweets posted from the Austrian Jewish community’s antisemitism monitoring agency.

During the attack, the woman reportedly shouted “Slaughter all Jews” at the rabbi. She also kicked him and took the hat and kippah off his head, per the earlier tweets.

There were 10 witnesses to the incident, however, according to the tweets, they didn’t do anything to help the rabbi.

“Please respect his wish to remain anonymous. He’s doing fine. The police are looking for the perpetrator,” a translated tweet from the agency read.

According to a report from the antisemitism monitor, 257 antisemitic incidents occurred in Austria in the first half of 2020.
