Earlier this month, a woman believed to have been overdosing on heroin gave birth to her baby in a Burger King bathroom in Chillicothe, OH, according to the Chillicothe Gazette.
Police officers found Elizabeth D. Sanders sitting on the toilet in the restaurant bathroom with a “suspected ball of heroin on the floor beside her.”
The woman told the police she thought she had suffered from a miscarriage, however, police soon noticed an infant that was still breathing in the toilet.
The report explains, “The medic grabbed the newborn, who was still breathing, and the baby was taken to the hospital. Chillicothe Police Capt. Larry Bamfield told the paper the boy is expected to be ‘OK,’ but it’s not clear what plans are in place for the child’s custody.”
